WHY Indago

As world leaders in educational travel, we are uniquely placed to help you balance your classroom education with international travel and first-hand insights into other cultures, helping to develop a new generation of global citizens. Our wealth of experience guiding groups in some of the most exciting places on the planet make Indago really stand out as Masters in the Art of Educational Travel.

See the world with new eyes

The Indago difference includes:

Inspiring itineraries tailored to you

We specialise in a select number of destinations, allowing us to develop truly exceptional itineraries with a real understanding of how to bring each place to life for the students. We have sample itineraries for each trip, which can run as they are, be tweaked or entirely changed to help create your perfect trip. Our detailed understanding of the destinations … (read more) combined with our wealth of experience of educational travel help us to provide exactly what you want in the way you want it. Every activity is deliberately designed to add value to the trip and to open the students eyes and minds to their new environment.

A world-class team

From the moment you contact us until the moment you step on to the plane home you will have the full and personalised support of our dedicated team of staff. Your individual trip manager works with you every step of the way, planning the trip according to the needs and requirements of the school, the students and the teaching staff. Our world-class team of guiding staff … (read more) inject energy, humour, knowledge and personality into the trip, bringing the destination to life for the students, and allowing the teachers to relax and be the teacher they want to be while on the trip. Our guides are regularly hailed by teachers as the best they have ever had, because we understand how essential it is to go above and beyond to make a fantastic trip.

Safety & risk management

At Indago we implement a framework of safety practises in order to reduce the risk on a trip, while still allowing students out of their comfort zones. During the planning phase we use our knowledge, ability and experience to provide you with safety management guidance and a comprehensive risk-assessment. Then from the moment you arrive the guide is constantly looking out for student safety, starting … (read more) with a detailed briefing to the group to ensure that all participants are aware of the safety procedures in place. In the rare event of an incident occurring, our staff are trained in how to cope with emergency situations, and will be able to take much of the stress off the teaching staff. However, due to our absolute attention to safety, and as demonstrated by our excellent safety record, incidents are kept to a minimum.

Meaningful service learning

Service learning trips are an incredible opportunity to expand minds, develop skills, engage with communities and break barriers. By avoiding tokenistic service and focussing on developing symbiotic relationships with communities we are able to offer genuine opportunities to make a sustainable difference. The students work hard, getting actively involved in … (read more) the projects with their new friends in the heart of the communities, and are guided in developing an understanding of all the factors involved in the project. We replace sympathy with empathy as we realise that working with people in a completely different situation to ourselves can teach us more about ourselves and our world than we ever thought possible. We have a separate dedicated fund for our service projects, meaning that every cent of fundraised or donated money can be spent on maximising the effects of our service projects.

Engaging insight

We couldn’t agree more with Marcel Proust when he explained how the real voyage of discovery consists not in seeing new sights, but in looking with new eyes. An Indago trip is not about looking at sights and being told what to think about them, but about immersing ourselves in other cultures, exploring the world and seeing life through different eyes. We engage the students and challenge them to step out of … (read more) their comfort zone, delving into the new world they find themselves in, getting their hands dirty and hearts beating faster while developing an understanding of the richness of the world by looking with new eyes.

Responsible Tourism

As travellers, we have a huge responsibility to the people and places we visit. We have a responsibility to have a positive economic and social impact on the communities we visit, ensuring that our trips make the areas better places to live and better places to visit. This involves careful management of resources to ensure that money is spent in positive ways in the community, and allowed to reach the … (read more) people who deserve to benefit from it. We also have a responsibility to minimise negative impacts, especially on the environment. This is done through both the way we behave and the way we educate ourselves and reflect on that behaviour. The travel industry is in a flawed situation that travelling itself can have a damaging environmental impact, but 10% of the world’s population, including many developing countries, are reliant on the industry. Our approach is to ensure that when we have the incredible privilege to travel, we make it count! We engage with local communities, support local enterprise and learn ways to actively develop ourselves and improve the lives of others. This is the first step towards making travel sustainable, and ensuring that we are leaders in encouraging responsible travel.

“The Indago counselors were quite outstanding. Sébastien and Kath were well organized, attentive to details, responded quickly to any changes that were necessary, and worked hard to ensure that the week was a great success. Teachers and students alike found Sébastien and Kath tremendous fun to be with and are probably the best counselors I have worked with on a school trip.”

“It was an excellent week, everything ran so smoothly, and almost every one of our students said that it was the best Adventure Week trip they’d been on.  We asked them for feedback on what they’d want to change about the trip and they were stumped!  Thank you, to you and your team, for making this such a positive experience for us!”
