Areas we work include:
The Indago Foundation works directly and year-round in a carefully selected number of impoverished communities to support education and the provision of basic human needs. The areas of focus are the communities we visit on our service projects, allowing direct and personal interaction and support. All the running costs of the foundation are covered by Indago, ensuring that every cent donated directly benefits the people who the support is intended for.
Kalahari, South Africa
The Indago Foundation operates in some of the poorest villages in South Africa based around the Moshaweng Valley in the Kalahari Desert. This is an area where many Tswana speakers were relocated during apartheid. The land is infertile and employment opportunities are extremely limited. HIV and AIDS are everyday problems and educational facilities struggle to support themselves. Projects so far have ranged from installing clean water supplies to primary schools where it was not previously available to the provision of food parcels to families unable to support themselves. A new award-winning vegetable garden was set up in a primary school to provide a sustainable food source to the malnourished students there and many projects have been run to provide basic facilities in schools
Mshiri, Tanzania
In the shadow of Mount Kilimanjaro Muranga is a small town where only 5% of students make it to high school. We work in the area to support students who wish to go to school but do not have the means to do so. We are working to maximise education opportunities for the whole community as well as supporting the provision of clean water, food and shelter.
North Vietnam
The mountainous region in North Vietnam, close to the Chinese border, is home to a variety of minority groups such as the Black Hmong and Red Dzao people. These colourful tribes have adapted to living in this harsh terrain and expertly grow and harvest rice on every available part of the hillside for survival. But living conditions are incredibly harsh and educational opportunities limited.
We are directly supporting a new initiative to provide better education for all children and encourage families to educate their children instead of sending them onto the streets to make money.
Siem Reap Province, Cambodia
Although scores of tourists pass through Siem Reap every year on the way to visit Angkor Watt and the Angkor Temples, few are aware of the extent of the poverty just a few kilometres outside of the town. The Siem Reap province is one of the poorest in Cambodia, which in turn is one of the poorest countries in the world. Many families do not have access to adequate food and shelter, and schools are drastically under resourced.
The Indago Foundation aims to support sustainable feeding programs such as small scale fish farms and vegetable gardens as well as providing empowerment by supporting education in the area
